Fun Water Activities; Not for the Faint Hearted

Water is one of the most popular platforms for summer activity enjoyment. Water, whether it be in the form of oceans, lakes, ponds, rivers or creeks is often immediately associated with fond summer memories and the excitement about adventures that can be had in the future.

The kinds of water locations that you and your friends and family can enjoy will most often be limited to the kinds of bodies of water that are nearest to your home. For example, if a creek is the only body of water near your house, you will be unable to participate in water skiing or water tubing. Thankfully, there is some form of activity that can be enjoyed on ever body of water.

If the closest body of water to you is an ocean, you are probably tempted in the summer to become a beach bum. After all, the emergence of beach culture has caused a trip to the beach to encompass so much more than simply lying on the beach and dipping in your toes. Beaches now contain their own vibrant night life and offshore activities. However, if you want to do more on your beach trip than lay on the beach, parasailing is an excellent choice. Parasailing gives you a beautiful aerial view of the beach and the ocean as you zip by. This activity is a must for those seeking to get the most out of their beach vacation.

You will be able to enjoy similar activates on lakes, large ponds and any wide river. In order to fully enjoy the best activities on these bodies of water you must have a boat capable of obtaining high speeds! If you do not have a boat you may be able to rent one from a local agency similar to how you would rent a car, or you may be able to go on a your boat. However, it is important to research the local laws regarding boat operation to find out what you must do to be able to operate a boat legally and safely. Just like the road, police patrol these public waters and have the ability to pull you over and fine you if you are not meeting the state requirements.

Once you obtain the boat, decide if you want to go water tubing or skiing. Water tubing can be enjoyed by people of all age groups; however, it is important to be using a tube that is safest for the age groups. It would not be wise to put a little child on a tube that is designed to go super-fast and do tricks that require experience. Water skiing is the more difficult out of the two, and people who can ski on land often find it more difficult to water skiing, though I think I’d rather hit water than a tree! Tubing and water skiing is not just fun for the people participating in the water activity, but is also equally enjoyable for the people in the boat. They can enjoy socializing, eating and drinking, and laughing at the falls of the people on the water.

Summer, in the minds of many people, would not be summer without a trip to some form of water. People who live in landlocked areas travel many hours to reach the excitement and fun of the water. No matter what major body of water is nearest you, there are a number of fun activities that you can participate in.

  1. Tubing is fun, but I lack the coordination for water skiing. I always seem to flip over. Whitewater rafting, canoeing, and parasailing are fun though.

    • A few years ago I travelled with my family to Myrtle Beach, SC and went parasailing. It was terrifying, but so much fun. It feels like you’re flying, and if you’re going to a beach, you MUST try this!

  2. I’m really interested in trying out the parasailing water activity. The idea of flying over water is really fascinating. I’ve never really done much exciting water activities. Have to try some of these ideas at some point. Thanks for the tips!

  3. I went jet skiing in Mexico once and the staff came out there because they thought mine was broken (because I was going so slow!) Turns out high speed water sports are not for me!
